The Lust Lesson: Learn or Burn

The first time our eyes met there was a magnetism that I'd never felt. I was being drawn into something that had an irresistible pull on my imagination. I resisted the first few times but found myself entertaining the thoughts of "what if". Even though I knew better, the thoughts became more frequent. This went on for months and then it happened, she introduced herself. "Hi, my name is Desire. You have held me in your mind a thousand times. Now, I have come to take hold of you if you let me. Don't worry, no one will ever know, so no one else will be hurt."                                “Give no place to the devil” Eph 4:27

"Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”  James 4:7-8

Right now, you may be experiencing a living hell because of the thoughts you've entertained; even though you knew they were wrong. The thoughts you repeatedly entertain will eventually take hold of you and what happens next will be beyond your control...Divorced, incarcerated, unwanted, unknown of, or unclaimed children. Ostracized, terminated or worse! As you reflect you say, "something told me not to do it, but something else took hold of you. At first, it seemed so right even though I knew it was wrong"

The enemy comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly. John 10:10

Am I the only one that's had these thoughts and feelings? On top of the rest of life is anyone else ever enticed into the fantasies that began with a single thought; and if left unchecked grow into a life all their own? If you don't resist you may find yourself falling into something that was once within your control but now is beyond your control. Once you've given in to lust it becomes a living spirit that takes complete control of your life. And lust has no mercy. It only has victims.

“Put on the Whole Armor of God that you may be able to stand and withstand the tricks of the devil.” Eph. 6:11

No matter how good she, he, or it looks; no matter how much it glitters or shines once you enter in know this, you will not come out the same. There is a price to pay and most of us have no idea the cost because we've become intoxicated by the spirit of seduction. This will eventually become the lowest-low of your life.

These things I have written to you concerning them that will seduce you.”  1 jn. 2:26

"There were times when I would see a physically attractive woman and homing in on her like sonar. In retrospect it was more animal-like instinct than one can describe. When a lion sees a gazelle, it's hunting season. The lion is locked in and everything else, except that piece of meat, is locked out. That is what lust can do to a man or woman. Seduction can lead you to a point of no return. She is a lioness, she is Jezebel.  Do not Enter!”

Don’t fall for the call to sin.

“Be sober, be vigilant because your adversary, the devil walks around seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5: 8

  •  Lust is the dominant spirit in the world today
  • In what ways has lust tried to lure you in
  • What do you do to recognize and resist the seduction
  • Don't allow yourself to entertain thoughts that you wouldn't want your spouse or partner to know about
  • Have you been in denial about the power of this spirit
  • Lust is the counterfeit of love
